Welcome to my homepage.

Hello. Nice to meet you.

elephant cheese

My name is Chie. There are two syllables when you pronounce my name. You may pronounce Chi as “ch” in cheese and e as “e” in elephant. 千絵 is my name in Japanese. It means a thousand pictures. I like my name because I think it can be defined as having many experiences in my life. Let me talk about brief history of myself.

My childhood

I was born and grew up in the countryside of Japan. I remember that I played in the woods, rivers, rice fields, and rode a bike everywhere every day. However, my childhood days became hard after my mother passed away from an illness when I was 7 years old. I started to work after graduating from high school.

My young adulthood

My first trip abroad was to Disneyland and Universal Studios in California when I was about 20 years old. That trip made me want to learn English, so I worked and saved money to live in Sydney, Australia in 2000 and 2001. While I was there, I went to language school and worked at a Japanese restaurant. I also went to see some Olympic events at the Sydney summer Olympics. After living in Sydney, I went backpacking around Australia and many southeast Asian countries. My young adulthood was a period of traveling. After I married my husband, we went backpacking around several European countries. Then we lived in California, Hawaii, and Oregon.

Present

flower I love living in Oregon. People are friendly and nice; trees and flowers grow very well here. Everything I need is here, so I feel like I do not need to travel to see new places anymore. I also found what I want to do here. I enjoy taking graphic design classes, taking care of my garden, and spending peaceful time with my family.
